This is my ‘state of hope’ address for you. Kind of like the state of the union, our Craft Hope union. In the midst of listing after listing I called a union sanctioned lunch break the other day, then was promptly reminded by Sarah that we have no union.
Although the listing and management of the shop can be exhausting. We are having a wonderful time behind the scenes. Admiring your donations and timing how quick certain items will sell. A beautiful quilt, pictured below, sold in all of THREE MINUTES!
So we wanted to just catch you up on what’s going on. First and foremost, Project 6 is still happening! We are still making red scarves so please join us. Please leave a comment in the Project 6 post if you would like to participate. Many of you are new to Craft Hope and this is what we do. We have projects where we make things and send them to deserving organizations. You can see the list of projects we have done in the sidebar. Join us!
As of this morning we have raised just over $20,000 for Doctors Without Borders, 1,155 sales, and currently have over 155 items for sale in the shop. We have approximately 300 more listings to add to the shop. Please do not be confused and think the shop is closed. We are OPEN for business. We just need to take a two week break to get a more formal system in place for accepting donations. Please spread the word that you can support Doctors Without Borders by shopping in the Craft Hope for Haiti Etsy shop.
We will continue listing these items to the shop throughout the week. Once they are all listed, we will continue to process purchases. No rest for the weary right!?!
If you are a seller, please allow 2-3 days to get your buyers address. I know you all are such amazing sellers. You have donated your time and things you could actually get money for. THANK YOU. Know that the buyer understands that it is going to take a few days for us to get the information to you. Sarah has got her mom on board and between the two of them they are getting these out as quick as humanly possible. Seriously folks, our entire team is working around the clock. And our families have all been recruited into the process.
We will begin accepting donations again in TWO WEEKS! In the meantime, shop until your heart is content! And start whipping up new things to add to the shop. The need in Haiti is not going to let up anytime soon. If you follow Doctors Without Borders on Twitter you can read stories and see photos of what our donations do for them in Haiti.
A HUGE welcome to those of you who have come to us through Twitter, Facebook, the thousands of blogs, Canadian Living, Ohdeedoh, Apartment Therapy, Huffington Post, Discovery’s Green Planet, Casa Sugar, DIY Life, Playgrounder… the list goes on. We are glad you joined us on this ride. It is truly amazing what a collective group of individuals can achieve.
“A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead

Where do you keep finding these great quotes? They so sum up the beauty that is Craft Hope – the people coming together to make a difference, one small piece of craft at a time. And boy what a difference…..
Amazing efforts. I hadn’t checked the site since joining in for project 6. I’ll have to think if I can donate anything when you start donating again. In the meantime my dd insisted I buy the mermaid doll pattern. Everything is so cute!
I am still in awe of what you are doing. Thank you!
You all must be absolutely exhausted! I too, am in awe of what you have done, and continue to do.

Thanks to you and your pals who have done such a great job! I am so happy I could participate in a small way (and just as happy, too, that my items were purchased so quickly!). I know the physicians will be so appreciative of this extra help that has come by such a fantastic venue. – michele
I heard about your site through Twitter. My favorite fabric boutique, Purl tweeted about your organization and all the great work you’re doing.
I was so excited to join the effort and have already set up links to your site and store on my blog. I’ve even started on a red scarf for Project 6!
Thanks for the update! Thank you for doing this, it’s such a blessing for all! It is more blessed to give than receive and you will reap so much from this.
I’m proud to be a part of this beautiful project
What an amazing amount of money, wonderful so wonderful. Well done and thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to be involved.xx
I’d love to get involved in these projects. I’m an experienced sewer and crafter and have plenty of material to use for projects.
Keep up the good work, ladies! I’m going to be busy sewing for these two weeks!
What an amazing number of sales and dollars!! Super!
And yes, let’s knit on….
Thinking about the time and energy and love present here in such force makes me cry a little. Good cry. Thank you.
So AMAZING! You have truly started a movement, Jade! Thanks to you and Sara and everyone behind the scenes for all of your hard work. Oh, and I have to find out how to get those mustaches for glasses (running joke with friends who will love them). I’ll check Etsy in a few days to see if they’re available then. Again, thank you all!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for all of the time, effort, energy, and love that you and everyone at Craft Hope have put into this! Truly amazing! Heheheh – and yes, that was crazy me, who bought the quilt as soon as it was listed!
I would love to donate one or two of my pieces of jewelry to support the people of Haiti. Just let me know what I need to do.
Hi great idea, please let me know when you are taking donations again, I’d love to donate!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve got a few baby quilt waiting for homes thanks for organizing, this is amazing, let me know if I can help in any other way.
You are doing an awesome job! I am a new seller on etsy and I would like to donate an item when you open up for donations again. If there is anything that I can do to help you, please let me know. I am a lawyer, but my expertise is in labor law, so I don’t know what I can do for you in that regard.

I JUST heard about you all. Can I still donate an item to your shop and help?
Thank you so much for creating and managing such a wonderful way for all of us to help. You are all amazing, wonderful, inspirational woman. Thank you.
Thanks for all your hard work…I have blogged and tweeted about it besides making a phone call or two to crafty friends. I wish you much continued success in this very worthwhile mission! Kim
Thanks for all your work!
Thank you for all your hard work and an amazing total of money raised. It is great to see people working together. I made cookies and muffins for my sale at school last week and raised £75 – all going towards the appeal. Well done everyone.
You gals are doing an AMAZING job and and amazing thing! It’s been a joy to be involved and donate (and send people shopping)! I can’t thank you enough. People are so generous and compassionate!
The quilt that sold in 3 minutes….I am not surprized, and there probably several sad shoppers who had their eye on it. Because, you see, it’s an Oh!Franson quilt. She does amazing quilts.
I will have 3 things to list when you get back, I missed the deadline for lack of a photo.
May the Lord Bless your efforts.
You guys are doing a great job, hope I am not to late with my product for you I wanted to have some good shots.
CONGRATULATIONS to all of you behind the scenes! Oh my, over $20,000! This is so wonderful. It was very fun participating in a small way by donating and extremely exciting watching each day to see the orders coming in and well as more and more donations. Congratulations to everyone involved – the CraftHope creators, the people that donated and all the purchasers too!
I love so much what you have created here! I think this is such a wonderful thing to be doing. I love it so much that I have posted a note about it on both of my blogs and I will be grabbing your button for them as well as posting it to my Facebook to try to help spread the word.
